B. Litzenburger et al., HIGH-RESOLUTION STUDY OF THE ANISOTROPY OF THE MAGNETIC-FIELD EFFECT ON THE E-4(G)-LEVEL OF MN2+ IN ZNS, Journal of luminescence, 72-4, 1997, pp. 83-84
The relative importance of the terms mu(B)g(e) S . H and mu(B) L.H of
the Zeeman Hamiltonian which describes the E-4(G)-level of Mn2+ (d(5))
in ZnS has been investigated by a very precise determination of the a
nisotropy of the magnetic field effect. Experimental and theoretical t
ransition energies as given by the Hamiltonian mu(B)g(e) S . H differ
by at most 0.2 cm(-1). The negligible effect of the contribution of th
e term mu(B) L.H is analyzed in a second-order perturbation scheme inv
olving spin-orbit interaction.
