Abstract
The Tb3+ 5D3-D-5(4) cross-relaxation process has been studied in the o ne-dimensional compound K2YF5 through the decay curves of D-5(3) and D -5(4) emissions. The results show that the Tb3+ ions are not homogeneo usly distributed in the lattice but are clustered, with a probable pre dominating ion-ion interaction along the chains.
