This paper deals with some application of the bootstrap technique in engine
ering diagnostics. It is well known that the later is an integration of num
erical simulation with classical statistical tool application in the engine
ering field. This paper reviews its basic principle and attempts to apply i
t to solve some problems in engineering diagnostics, such as the quantitati
ve evaluation of diagnostic inconsistency, the diagnostic features an dht p
seudo-distances. Examples reveal the advantages of the method and the poten
tial for further applications is discussed.
