Abstract
We have studied the linear absorption and the photoluminescence of qua ntum-confined structures in a polyvinylalcohol matrix doped with CdS. We could observe a coexistence between rather spherical and rod-like g rowth phases. The different stages of the growth process have been ide ntified by HRTEM measurements.
