The low-temperature luminescence properties of CaSO4:Dy for personnel
dosimetry have yet to be fully investigated. In this article we presen
t the results of low-temperature TL, radioluminescence and phosphoresc
ence to demonstrate the existence of tunnel luminescence as opposed to
thermoluminescence (TL) from low-temperature traps and attempt to exp
lain the subtle difference between high-temperature TL, low-temperatur
e TL and tunnel luminescence spectra.
