We present an experimental study of the light-output response of CsI(T
l) detectors for low-energy ions. The measurements were made with a 10
x 10 x 10 mm(3) crystal coupled to a silicon photodiode for H-1, He-4
and C-12 beams. The experimental results have been compared to predic
tions obtained with a recently proposed analytical model of ion-induce
d luminescence. The deviations observed between the calculated and the
measured values in this low-energy regime indicate that there might b
e an increase in the relative importance of certain physical processes
that are normally negligible at higher energies.
