Abstract
Four wave mixing (FWM) is studied on Ca,Cr codoped Y3Al5O12 (YAG) crys tal, in which both Cr3+ and Cr4+ exist. The dispersion effect and deca y dynamics reveal that the population grating observed originates from Cr3+, but the dispersive behaviour is greatly modified by the strong optical absorption of Cr4+.
