Abstract
We have studied the external photoluminescence quantum efficiency eta( ext) of ternary II-VI semiconductor solid solutions which is strongly influenced by the crystal quality due to the density of nonradiative r ecombination centers. The measurements were carried out with an integr ating sphere fitted into a cryostat. The results are confirmed by time -resolved photoluminescence experiments which show the influence of no nradiative recombination processes on the recombination times of local ized excitons.
