Abstract
A Landau-type phenomenological cluster theory for modelling the freezing pr ocess of the local polarization in relaxors is presented. On the basis of t he theory, the proportion of frozen polarization in Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O-3-PbTiO 3 (PMNT) is calculated from the experimental dielectric non-linearity. The local polarization is shown to freeze continuously in a cooling process. Th e amount of frozen polarization increases with increasing measuring frequen cy.
