Abstract
The low-energy lattice modes are investigated above and below the temperatu re of the phase transition from the trigonal to the monoclinic phase in KSc (MoO4)(2) by the Raman scattering method. The Raman spectra exhibit anomali es at temperatures above the phase transition to the monoclinic phase (T si milar to 260 K) in the region of external oscillations of the tetrahedral a nion. Anomalous behavior of the damping A(g) of the soft mode is observed i n the temperature region 240-260 K. A model of the phase transition is disc ussed. (C) 2001 American Institute of Physics.
