Abstract
Marcasite FeTe2 nanorods have been prepared through a hydrothermal method i n alkaline aqueous solution in the temperature range of 120-170 degreesC. X RD pattern of the product indicated that the product was orthorhombic FeTe2 with cell constants a = 053 nm, b = 0.63 nm and c = 0.3 nm. Iron (II) comp lexes instead of iron (II) ion greatly reduced the amount of byproduct. The mechanism of the formation of iron ditelluride was discussed. (C) 2001 Els evier Science B.V.
