Abstract
[GRAPHICS] Anomalous ozonolysis of strained bicyclic allylic alcohols yields alpha -hy droxymethyl ketones. The proposed mechanism involves an unusual trapping of the primary ozonide that undergoes a Grob-like fragmentation instead of di ssociating into the Criegee intermediates.
