The stationary parameters of a neutralized electron cooling system (th
e electron current, the neutralization degree, etc.) are defined by an
energy balance equation for the ions. We discuss the main sources of
the ion heating: incoherent heating (natural and artificial) as well a
s coherent heating due to dipole oscillations excited by an interactio
n between the primary electrons and the ions. Analysis of beam lifetim
e with account of this energy balance equation and maxwellization due
to intrabeam scattering permits us to estimate the stationary paramete
rs. Results of estimations are compared with experimental data obtaine
d at the LEAR e-cooling system.
