Abstract
We describe a proposed Dust Charge Probe (DCP) experiment to characterize t he dust loaded photoelectron sheath on the surface of Mars. DCP can provide measurements of the photoelectric sheath, as well as the charge, size and velocity distribution of the wind-entrained dust particles. Here we discuss the expected physical properties of the photoelectron sheath, the detectio n technique and the engineering design of the experiment.
