Abstract
In zooplankton samples. collected during the ARK XII cruise of RV Polarster n in the northern Kara Sea and the ARKTIKA-98 cruise of RV Akademik Fedorov in the northern Barents Sea, eight specimens of the pelagic carnivorous po lychaete, Phalacrophorus pictus borealis Reibisch, 1895 were found in July 1996 and October 1998, respectively. This new record of the subspecies rema rkably extends its known distribution area within the Arctic Ocean. The goo d condition of the material has allowed giving the new, more detailed descr iption of the subspecies.
