Abstract
Scandium-arene complex anions, Sc-1(arene)(m)(-) (m = 1, 2; arene = benzene and toluene) were generated by the gas phase reaction of laser vaporized a toms with aromatic molecules. Sc-1(toluene)(2)(-) was identified as a sandw ich complex anion in the gas phase. The electronic structures of the comple x anions were observed by photoelectron spectroscopy.
