Abstract
In the first of this two part series that will lead to a complete radio-tra nsceiver solution for the 2.4GHz ISM band, the authors will explore the wor ldwide standards and the opportunities that are now available to designers, in Bluetooth, DECT and HomeRF. In Part two the detail of the design and ap plication of a single chip, BICMOS single conversion receiver and transmitt er will be presented. Finally conclusions will be drawn with respect to the impact on size, cost and performance of mobile terminals.
