Kg. Ivanov, The loading of a coronal hole with an active filament: Influence on the dynamics and structure of near-earth disturbances, GEOMAG AERO, 41(1), 2001, pp. 1-5
We confirm that the combination of a low-latitude coronal hole and an activ
e filament in the eastern vicinity of the hole is favorable to the generati
on of a high-velocity stream at 1 au with a large-scale increase in proton
density ("load") and a decrease in proton velocity and temperature inside.
We show that the interaction between the fast and slow solar winds downstre
am (upstream) of the load can be significantly weakened (enhanced). This is
expressed, respectively, in the relative stability of a negative (n, B) co
rrelation ahead of the stream interface and in the generation of a shock wa
ve inside the high-velocity stream.
