Abstract
The reaction of three equivalents of antimony trichloride with 2-lithium be nzothiazole leads to a trimeric, coupling product. This reaction is similar to those in which PCl3 leads to heterocycle dimerization. The monomeric, m olecular structure of the title compound was determined by X-ray crystallog raphy. The crystal is monoclinic, a=14.681(1) Angstrom, b=8.491(2) Angstrom , c=15.966(6) Angstrom, beta =108.00(2)degrees; space group P2(1)/n, Z=4 fo r C21H13N3S3, and rho (calcd)=1.416 g/cm(3).
