The use of "site diversity" to counter the severe rain attenuation in a sma
ll area (like Singapore) where optimum baseline orientation with respect to
the propagation path is not achievable, has been investigated. Preliminary
results of site diversity experiments carried out in Singapore at Ku-band
using the IN-TELSAT beacon are presented. This experiment is accomplished w
ith a site separation of 12.3 km and nonconventional base line orientation
of 4 degrees, Comparison with the ITU-R models is also presented. This stud
y is the first of its kind in the region.
