HA-2-91, a new tetraene polyene macrolide antibiotic 1 has been isolated fr
om the culture broth of Streptomyces arenae var ukrainiana and purified by
silica gel column chromatography followed by preparative TLC. Its structure
has been determined on the basis of spectral data (UV, IR, H-1 and C-13 NM
R, mass), which accounts for its potent antifungal activity.
