A numerically efficient and fast method of solution for cracks or slip band
s with a crack opening or shearing displacement-dependent cohesive stress c
an be developed on the basis of a Gauss-Cbebyshev quadrature rule for hyper
singular integrals. The resulting iterative scheme allows different 'harden
ing' or 'bridging' laws to be explored in a consistent manner.
