Abstract
The wide viewing angle characteristics of negative dielectric anisotropy ne matic liquid crystal (NLC) using the vertical-alignment (VA)-1/6 pi cell on a homeotropic rubbed polyimide (PI) surface were investigated. Good voltag e-transmittance characteristics using the VA-1/6 pi cell without a negative compensation films were obtained. The iso-viewing angle characteristics us ing the VA-I 1/6 pi cell without a negative compensation film can be achiev ed.
