Abstract
Growing evidence suggests that restenosis may be caused by a failure in gro wth inhibitory and apoptotic systems that would normally mediate lesion reg ression. One such inhibitory system is the glucocorticoid receptor. This pa per develops, assesses and compares chemical cleavage of mismatch (CCM) and denaturing high-performance liquid chromatography (DHPLC) for their utilit y in detecting mutations in this system. The results of the two methods cor related in 74% of cases in a cohort of endarterectomy patients studied by t hese two methods. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
