Abstract
The propagation of magnetoplasma waves in a periodic array formed by semico nductor layers alternating with dielectric ones is studied theoretically. I t is assumed that an external magnetic field is parallel to the layers and that the waves propagate in a plane perpendicular to the magnetic field. Th e passband under study is the result of the tunneling of surface magnetopla sma waves through the layers. The translational symmetry causes the formati on of collective modes in "the magmetoplasma passband." A dispersion diagra m is computed with regard for the speed of light. It is demonstrated that t he spectral region related to surface magnetoplasma waves splits into multi ple subbands.
