Abstract
Results of the quantum close-coupling calculations for the spin-changing tr ansition in Ba(6s6p,P-1(1) --> P-3(2)) induced by collisions with argon are presented. The dependence on angular and collision energy of the calculate d multi-structure differential cross-sections are discussed. The backward s cattering is most prominent in a small energy range, particularly in the ca se of Pi preparation of the initial Bat (P-1(1))-Ar molecular state. The si milar characteristic features of differential cross-sections are observed i n the experiment by Visticot et al (Visticot J P et al 1992 Phys. Rev. A 45 6371).
