The performance of various silicon antimonate composites having a wide rang
e of Si/Sb molar ratio i.e., 0.18 to 2.72, synthesized earlier((1)) were as
sessed by some ion exchange batch experiments for the removal of carrier fr
ee (CF) Nickel-63 radioisotope. The kinetic studies and distribution coeffi
cients (K-d) for various composites showed that the removal of Ni-63 in the
same chemical environment was proportional to the quantity of antimony pre
sent in the composites. In each case the selectivity sequence for the uptak
e of Ni-63 radioisotope was in agreement with the stoichiometry amount of a
ntimony present in the composites.
