Proton and neutron matrix elements for nuclear transitions in exotic nuclei

To understand shell structure, core polarization mechanisms and other aspec ts of nuclear structure in exotic nuclei, it is important to measure transi tion matrix elements for both protons and neutrons. Several methods for doi ng so are described here.
