The history of studies on the catalytic properties of rhenium and its compo unds in chemical reactions up to designing catalysts for industrial petrole um refining and petrochemical processes, such as reforming and disproportio nation (metathesis) of olefins, and prospects for further utilization or rh enium-containing catalysts are surveyed.
