Bl. Brown et al., A convenient field method of tissue preservation for flow cytometric ploidy assessment of grass carp, T AM FISH S, 129(6), 2000, pp. 1354-1359
We developed modified procedures for the field collection and preservation
of blood and tissue samples from grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella for flo
w cytometric ploidy analysis. The components used are stable at room temper
ature and portable, so that they may be incorporated into a field kit. The
procedures facilitated field collection and preservation of tissue, and acc
ommodated accurate ploidy analysis up to 1 month following collection. The
techniques will be useful in remote locations, where access to refrigeratio
n and a Row cytometer is not available.
