Abstract
Starting from a general expression for the surface tension gamma of a binar y mixture, a criterion is derived which indicates if and at which temperatu re the temperature derivative of the surface tension, d gamma /dT, changes sign. An explicit and simple equation for this temperature is obtained by u sing the ideal solution model.
