The influence of bacterial strains Bacillus parabrevis S2 and Bacillus
cereus ZS on the formation and growth of crystals in supersaturated C
aCO3 solutions with and without bacteria under static incubation was s
tudied. The crystal formation on the surface of the solutions and the
bottom of vessels was observed with optical and electron microscopy an
d electron microanalysis. The applied bacterial strains supported the
formation and growth of CaCO3 crystals as well as the formation of a t
hin film on the surface.
