The efficiency of several new groups of organotin compounds (dibutylti
n dithiocarbamates, tributyltin dithiocarbamates and tributyltin dithi
ocarbamate propionates) against wood destroying fungi (Serpula lacryma
ns, Coniophora puteana, Coriolus versicolor) was tested. The best resu
lts were obtained from tributyltin dithiocarbamates, especially from t
ributyltin N-pyrolidine dithiocarbamate and tributyltin N,N-dialkyldit
hiocarbamate propionate. The total efficiency of these compounds was n
early the same as that of the commercially available products TBTN and
TBTA. For the brown-rot fungus C. puteana tributyltin N-pyrolidine di
thiocarbamate and tributyltin N-piperidine dithiocarbamate compounds w
ere more effective than the standard commercial product TBTA even at t
he concentration of 0.0001%. The efficiency of dibutyltin dithiocarbam
ates was low both in comparison with the commercial standards and with
tributyltin substituted compounds.
