Abstract
The aqueous ethanol extract of Myricae Cortex (bark of Myrica rubra SIEB, e t Zucc., Myrieaceae) showed in vitro testosterone 5 alpha -reductase inhibi tory activity and in vivo anti-androgenic activity using growth of flank or gan in castrated Syrian hamsters and/or hair regrowth after shaving in test osterone-treated C57Black/6CrSlc mice. Three constituents, myricanone, myri canol, and myricetin were identified as the main active principles.
