Abstract
Although, olefin metathesis has been applied in the industrial conversion o f non-functionalized alkenes for several decades, only the development of n ovel catalysts during the lost decode has widened the scope of the reaction in a way that it now belongs to the standard repertoire of synthetic organ ic chemistry. The recent success in the development of tailored catalysts i ndicates, that the full potential of olefin metathesis as a synthetic metho d still remaines to be uncovered.
