Abstract
Additional specimens of Rhabdolichops (Gymnotiformes, Sternopygidae) were c aptured in two rivers of French Guiana (Maroni, Mana). These are the first records of this genus in this area and the species found is described here as new. It mainly differs from the other species by a lower number of anal fin rays and of vertebrae, and by a different number of first arch gill rak ers. The genus is now known from the Orinoco, Amazon, Mana and Maroni basin s. The specimens caught are registered in the MNHN (Museum national d'histo ire naturelle) and in the MHNG (Museum d'histoire naturelle de Geneve).
