Transient electromagnetic field of current circuit localized on the axis of a hollow magnetic cylinder (solution of the problem and applications)

This paper presents solution of the problem of the transient electromagneti c field of current circuit in a conducting cylindrical magnetic layered med ium by the method proposed by Academician A. N. Tikhonov for a horizontally homogeneous half-space. We have investigated the dependencies of transient emf on the model parameters and considered applications to the study probl em in magnetic-field testing of metallic casings of petroleum wells and in estimating stresses in the geological medium around the well.
