Abstract
This paper reviews some of our pioneering contributions to the field of III -V compound semiconductor materials and low-dimensional optoelectronic devi ces. These contributions span from the ultraviolet(lambda similar to 200 nm ) up to the far-infrared (lambda similar to 25 mum) portion of the electrom agnetic spectrum and have had a major scientific and technological impact o n the semiconductor world in the past 20 years.
