The possibility of observing some unusual effects such as the EMC effe
ct but for intermediate-energy meson-nucleus interactions is investiga
ted. The discrepancy between the experimental and theoretical ratio R
= sigma(K+ - C-12)/6 sigma(K+ - d) of the total cross sections is disc
ussed within the Glauber multiple-scattering approach. Agreement with
experimental data is not achieved upon introducing noneikonal correcti
ons and relativistic K+-N amplitudes. Various recent attempts at remov
ing this discrepancy by taking into account in-medium effects are disc
ussed.
