Vg. Neudatchin et al., NN WAVE-FUNCTION AT SMALL DISTANCES AND HARD BREMSSTRAHLUNG IN THE PROCESS PP-]PP-GAMMA, Physics of atomic nuclei, 60(6), 1997, pp. 971-980
Various possibilities of studying the NN wave function at small distan
ces-and in particular, quark degrees of freedom in the NN system-are d
iscussed. It is shown that there is such a possibility at moderate ene
rgies-namely, hard bremsstrahlung in the process pp --> pp gamma at pr
oton-beam energies in the range 350-450 MeV permits distinguishing bet
ween the pp wave function with nodes in S and P waves that corresponds
to the Moscow potential of NN interaction from functions obtained wit
h repulsive-core mesonic potentials. In the regions where photon energ
ies in the c.m.s. are maximal (forward and backward photon emission an
gles in the laboratory frame), the pp --> pp gamma cross section calcu
lated with the Moscow potential has maxima at which it is approximatel
y five times larger than the analogous cross section calculated with r
epulsive-core mesonic potentials. The coordinate-representation formal
ism of the theory of bremsstrahlung is expounded.
