Analytical expressions for the calculation of damage percentage using the probit methodology

In the modelling of accidents, difficulties arise when introducing data fro m figures and tables into a computer code. In order to solve this problem i n relation to the estimation of the consequences of an accident on the popu lation, analytical expressions for converting Probit variables into probabi lity percentages and vice-versa, are presented. The results obtained have b een compared with the results found in tables and figures from references. Very good agreement between the commonly used values and those obtained fro m the analytical expressions has been found. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
