Abstract
The influence of an oligothiophenic substituent upon the spectroscopic beha viour of chromenes is discussed. Fluorescence emission is observed for seve ral compounds. The photochromism/fluorescence ratio depends on the polythio phenic chain length and on the substitution site on the chromene, (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
