Se. Perlman et al., Caring for women with childbearing potential taking teratogenic dermatologic drugs - Guidelines for practice, J REPRO MED, 46(2), 2001, pp. 153-161
Dermatologic agents can be highly teratogenic, and the gynecologist must be
aware of the issues involved in prescribing them. Prescribers should be aw
are of the risks and ensure that patients taking teratogens do not become p
regnant during the course of therapy (ou until the drug has been cleared fr
om the body). This can involve taking menstrual and sexual histories and co
unseling the patient about sexual behavior and contraception.
