Abstract
Automated measurement of blood pressure and urinalaysis is reviewed, and th e strengths and weaknesses of these devices are compared with the conventio nal techniques. The few early reports of such management strategies are rev iewed with the emphasis of the advantages od automated monitoring. The arti cle concludes with a review of published pilot data in this field and place s those findings in the context of recent recommendations for the developme nt of obstetric care in the United Kingdom.
