Abstract
The investigation was started in May 1999 and finished in May 2000. The fea ces of stallions, mares and foals were examined and eggs of Trichonema, Str ongylus, Parascaris equorum and Anoplocephala spp. were detected. The exten t of Trichomema and Strongylus invasion ranged from 87.5% to 100% in May, 1 00% in August and 70-100% in November 1999. In 2000 the extent of these nem atode invasions ranged from 90% to 100% in January, 85.7-100% in March and 72.7-100% in May. Eggs of Parascaris equorum were only found in foals. In J anuary 2000 the extent of the Parascaris invasion decreased and in March an d May 2000 it was not determined at all. Eggs of Anoplocephala spp, were fo und in only 20% of the horses. in May and August 1999, while in January onl y in horses from one herd. During the entire period of examination the inte nsity of Trichonema and Strongylus invasion was determined at 3,2 thousand epg., for Parascaris equorum 0.5 thousand epg., for Anoplocephala spp. 0.3 thousand epg. In was determined that sowers of Trichonema and Strongylus we re stallions and mates while of Parascaris and Anoplocephala were foals. In spite of the large parasite infection, horses were in good condition and g astro-intestinal tract disturbances were not found either.
