M. Demirci et M. Ucok, Clinical evaluation of a polyacid-modified resin composite in class III cavities: One year results, OPER DENT, 26(2), 2001, pp. 115-120
This study evaluates the one-year clinical performance of a polyacid-modifi
ed resin composite material, Dyract (DeTrey Dentsply, Konstanz, Germany), i
n Class III cavities.
Sixty-two Class III cavities in 30 patients were restored with Dyract. Rest
orations were evaluated at baseline and one-year recall according to modifi
ed Ryge criteria by two experienced, calibrated examiners.
At one-year recall the rate of retention was 98.4%. None of the restoration
s were clinically unacceptable in regard to color match, wear or loss of an
atomical form, marginal. discoloration, caries, marginal adaptation and sur
face texture. After one year, color change and marginal discoloration in re
storations were statistically significant (p=0.031) but did not require the
replacement of any of the restorations. At baseline, only one patient repo
rted postoperative sensitivity and two months later, endodontic treatment w
as performed.
Dyract's clinical performance in Class III cavities at one year recall is p
romising but further long-term clinical research on color change and margin
al discoloration is needed.
