Polyaminobismaleimide prepolymers were obtained by a Michael addition react
ion of a 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane (DDM) to 4,4'-bismaleimidodiphenylmeth
ane (BMI) by melt polymerization, in various molar ratios of DDM:BMI. The t
hermal parameters of the polyaddition reaction and the thermal polymerizati
on were evaluated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The DDM:BMI m
olar ratio and the reaction time influence the residual amine groups and nu
mber-average molecular weight (M-n).
