The properties of complex compounds produced by template condensation of sa
licylideneaminoguanidines with salicylaldehyde on a nickel(II) ion matrix a
re studied. It is shown that the potassium ion in a nitrogen-substituted tr
iazacyclic complex can be replaced by a tetrabutylammonium cation. The elec
tronic structure of the compounds obtained is characterized using UV, IR, a
nd (H-1, C-13) NMR spectroscopies. A chelate compound produced from nitroam
inoguanidine was found to exhibit the effect of electron density redistribu
tion involving nickel AO. As a result, two benzene rings of the complex ani
on become nonequivalent.
