Abstract
AIM: To study the effect of phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride (PMSF), a phospho lipase C inhibitor, on ischemic injury to brain mitochondria in rats. METHO DS: The phospholipid level, membrane fluidity, and respiratory control rati o of brain mitochondria were measured. The effect of phenylmethylsulfonyl f luoride was tested. RESULTS: The phospholipid level, membrane fluidity, and respiratory control ratio of brain mitochondria in ischemia group decrease d but increased in the PMSF treatment group(P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: PMSF ame liorated ischemic injury to brain mitochondria in rats.
