A SYSTEM OF 72 SYNCHRONIZED MARX GENERATORS FOR CHARGING TO THE 500 KV RADIAL LINES OF THE LIA-30 LINEAR PULSED ACCELERATOR

228 radial lines with water insulation in 144 inductors are used as en ergy storage and accelerating-voltage formers in the LIA-30 linear pul sed electron accelerator (40 MeV, 100 kA, and 20 ns), The lines are ch arged to 500 kV in similar to 0.75 mu s from a system of 72 Marx gener ators. Circuit diagrams, designs, and characteristics of five-stage ge nerators of two types are described, In the generator capacitors, an e nergy of 1.6 MJ is stored at a charging voltage of 100 kV, The maximum spread in the operation delay time of all generators with application of the triggering-voltage pulse is <30 ns. The system of generators h as been in operation as a part of the accelerator since 1988.
